On 2nd of May, Reading Central Library and Red Garden Manga are doing a Free Comic Book Manga Day thing!
Free Comic Book Day is an ancient tradition where comic book publishers give their goods away in free samples. And Red Garden Manga thought it would be a good time to have a manga-centric party.
The event will be in the Reading Central Library from 10 – 4. There will be comics, and manga, and free sketches, and, beside Itch’s own Willie Hewes (aka me), Karen Yumi Lusted, Louise Ho (Naniiebim) and Kate Brown (Spider Moon, Midsummer Night’s Dream) will be on location and totally stalkable. Kate Brown will be giving a workshop, and she knows what she’s talking about, so book a space if you’re interested in learning.
There is also a competition that requires you to finish a 6 panel comic where the first panel is given. Hm, tricky. You can pick up an entry form from Red Garden, if you’re Reading-based. If not, e-mail Red Garden Manga and get them to send you one. I’m sure Frank won’t mind.
If you’re not in Reading, and have no intention of going to Reading, free sketches notwithstanding, then I say: your loss, sir. Hope to see you somewhere else. ^_~
