rahIf you’ve been around on the convention and Expo scene, you’ll probably know about Genki Gear, but I felt like giving them a shout-out because they’re doing cool things.

Genki Gear are a T-shirt company selling shirts that are not so much about the “clever” slogans, but more about quirky, funny and J-culture inspired images. I have a few of their shirts and love them, they’re high quality and comfy.

In May they came out with “Rah!”, which I think is absolutely must-have awesome. I just learned it’s by Jess Bradley, so that explains everything then.

The “Rah!” design is also available on the back of some very funky jackets, and that’s the version I have. It’s one of my favourite pieces of clothing, even though it makes people go “RAH!” when they’re standing behind me and that freaks me out. Especially if I don’t remember I’m wearing the jacket.

planktonI also love the Genki Doodle range, they are one-colour prints that make no sense. It’s the sort of joke that you kind of don’t get, but it’s OK that you don’t get it because there’s nothing to get it’s just funny. Sort of like a koan on a shirt. Maybe.

Anyway, Genki Gear. They rock. Buy their stuff. And no, this was not a paid-for post, I just really like what they do. By the way, you can also buy their shirts on Play, if you shop there.

Their own online shop: Genki Gear.
