On getting started, I first went to a few smaller events, the MCM can be a bit daunting because there are SO many people. Maybe the Japanese Arts Festival is a good place to start, it’s friendly and more focussed on art and culture. Also less loud. There’s also the Web and Mini Comics thing, which is more comics focussed, but there are quite a few prints and cuteness related tables there, too.

You could also look around for an artist to share a table with, so you’re not just helping out but could sell some of your own prints and stuff, too. Just look for places where people are talking about the event (Sweatdrop, the MCM forums?) and say: hey, I’m looking for someone to share a table with. You might find someone, and then you can learn together.

It’s not too complicated though. Bring a tablecloth. Bring change. Have some cards/leaflets. Be friendly. That’s all you need, really.

I figured maybe I should get my act together and get a table… but I certainly don’t think I’ll be ready by May for that… (plus I wouldn’t know where to begin!)
I’m thinking about asking an artist if they’d allow me to help them. I can look after the table when they need to pee and stuff? Just for the experience and to learn how to set one up… I’d like to do that with you more than the other artists there who I know but err… How did you figure out how to get started? With getting tables and all.
