Meet the Cake Makers is a series of blog posts where we introduce you
to the wonderful people who contributed to the new Leek & Sushi: Manga
Cupcake book. Who are they? What did they send in? Where can
you find their work online?
We start with the people who will also be at the upcoming MCM Expo in
London, so you can hunt them down for a signature or a free hug (be
sure to ask nicely).
Meet Kairi Moon AKA Karen Yumi Lusted
If you pay any attention to ITCH this person will not be new to you.
Karen wrote and drew Final Blossom and Super Jax, two
graphic novels published by ITCH. She will be at the MCM Expo in
London. Go say hi and maybe buy some of her pretty illustrated
goodies, or a copy of the artbook Secret Colours, which has different
illustrators showing you how they build up their illustrations. It’s
seriously good. You can see some pictures here.
Karen and her robot double produced two short manga for Leek and
Sushi. One is about an irresponsible young man who forsakes his duty
for a pretty girl, the other about an impossible love governed by the
sun and the moon. All illustrated in her usual flowing loveliness, of
course.
