Yuri Kore won this year’s Manga Jiman competition with her story “The
Boy Who Runs From The Sun” (Congratulations!). She was a new face to
us in the UK, but has been drawing and publishing her own manga in
Korea for a long time. Now she’s moved to the UK and is ready to take
over.

You can visit her site and have a look at her
work, as well as read all about her obsession with Licca dolls, her
travels, and her paranoia about Wikipedia Korea. Go have a look right
now. You can also catch her at the upcoming MCM Expo, where she’ll be
selling a collection of her manga in the comic village.

The Boy Who Runs From The Sun is a wonderful, multi-continent fairy
tale with an African boy who doesn’t like the sun, and an Inuit girl
who always cries. Oh, and there’s a sky whale. And it’s absolutely
gorgeous. A well-deserved win, as you can see below the fold.
