What is ITCH looking for?

ITCH is looking for quality manga and comics that, for whatever reason, do not find their place in the mainstream.

Editorial decisions are taken by me, Willie Hewes, so I’ll talk for a bit about things I like and don’t like, and hopefully that will give you an idea of whether it’ll be worth your time to submit something.

I like stories about real people and relationships. I like stories that have a point to make, so long as they’re not moralising. I don’t mind a bit of philosophy or questioning of the nature of life, universe and the rest, and I love things that mix magical or hypertech features with real world settings and concerns.

I don’t like superhero stories very much, generally, and stuff that’s really violent or about war or crime has to be different from the usual genre fare to catch my attention. If you’re working with folk tales or historical settings, on the other hand, I’d love to hear about it.

If you’ve not worked with ITCH before, you should offer a completed story, not the first part of a series. There are too many series that never finish, and I don’t want to add to that problem. You can contact me when your series is finished, and we can print it as a single book.

If this is your first stab and comic making, I strongly suggest you go for a complete story with a beginning and end, and no more than 50 pages between them.

Send submissions to willie at itchpublishing dot com.

Before you do that, you may want to check that ITCH is really the best way for you to get your work published.
