Final Blossom
Final Blossom is the story of an enchanted forest under threat from outside influence. The male lead character meets and befriends the girl who acts as the spirit protector of the forest, and learns about its unique flora and fauna. When a new hunter arrives on the scene, it will be down to him to protect the forest, and the woman he loves.

I like manga because it looks pretty (it really is as simple as that!). But also the freedom to draw what you want and how you want.
Story wise, I just draw what I think of. I did change my style for this particular story (I would have used a lot more tones!) but other than that, I’m a shojo type, using dramatic and obscure panels! I’m really not the artsy type, I never intend my pieces to have a deep deep deep meaning to it. I always have some sort of focus but other than that I just want to tell a story. As I say to many people: I’m a craftsman, not an artist. Although sometimes I have my artistic streaks, but that’s usually once in a blue moon!

Final Blossom is a beautiful book, and a good read; the story is well told, albeit quite short and reasonably predictable. It’s well drawn overall, especially the forest itself. In fact, art-wise, it seems as though the forest is the main character and the nameless hero and heroine less important – they’re well drawn but much simpler than the forest, which is always drawn with care and great attention to detail. Given the message of the story, that could well be intentional.
