OMG I have taken so long on this Cyphar commission, it’s ridunkulous! But I can’t help it. Drawing characters based off actual people… basically anime caricatures, is hard work! (Perhaps I’ll make that the next challenge.) And I’ll be honest, I was getting a little bored with some of the outcome. But not for long… The hat is going to drawn properly in Photoshop. In fact, it’s going to be given a new lick of paint in Photoshop. Literally, a lick of paint, a bit like the Streetfighter IV art style. PRAISE THE ART LORDS I have finished the inking phase! Putting them into Photoshop is giving me a wholesome new energy!
Pencilled (repeatedly), then inked with Uni Ball Eye Micro and the Faber Castell Pitt Artist pen (small).

I find that the ‘real people into manga’ is different depending on who you’re drawing. Sometimes, I can easily make a manga version of someone (me. lol) Other time, It’s pretty hard (for me anyone middle aged x_X).
I guess it’s because you fall into drawing similar types of people and when drawing real people gets you out of comfort zones. Saying that, I might try that actually. Thanks for bringing me about to that comclusion! ^_^
Yes, I think you’re right about the comfort zone thing. I’m trying oh so desperately to break out of it, but at the same time, not lose my own style in it – Difficult!
