This is 100% inspired by tenshianna’s cityscapes, they’re gorgeous and I have never drawn anything like this before so I thought I’d give it a try (altho none of it is actually reffed from any of her work…for once I drew something from scratch without any photo or character refs ^_^ )
I used a square-sided brush for this one with a diagonal tilt and just drew a load of chunky random diagonals in a couple of tones, then sort of found buildings within the mishmash of shapes – I’ve read quite a bit about artists who speed paint like that, so thought I’d experiment! It was fun, altho a bit of a learning curve as I had no idea what I was doing until I was over half way finished o.O;
@30knight – thanks! i’m pretty sure i have 0% chance with Eyeko seeing as i only entered some crappy sketches, but i’m just doing it for fun really XD thanks for the good luck about the job apps, luckily i managed to keep my mind of it for most of the weekend but still not heard anything, waah! ;_; i used photoshop for that misty path image (i’ve been using it for all my speed paintings ^^ ). brush settings are taken from ArcadiaRonin, i just change the opacity to whatever suits what i’m doing best ^_^
@voxie – thanks, yeah i’m gonna give them a few weeks before i assume the worst, its hard tho! unfortunately tho jobs for me are a little limited if i want to work in games – my other 1/2 already has a job here so i can’t move anywhere else and i don’t have a car so it would be relatively difficult to commute anywhere o.O; ah well, we shall see ^_^ glad you like the kitty pics too!
@arcadia – thanks! i find mucking about with the levels / colour correction tools in photoshop after i think i’ve finished a painting can help to give it more impact ^_^ and yeah short comics can be hard ^^; i guess you just have to think of an incredibly simple premise o.o;
@nicola – thanks! glad to hear you like the lined version – i’ll definitely try digital inking again in the future *gotta learn more* ^_^

I use the sane brush setting too, though I think I need to change as I can never use the brush porperly.
