Rhapsody in Blue too

Now I know this is kinda random, but I was just checking my RSS lists, and saw 3oknight’s post and saw a YouTube link (and I always check out YouTube links I’m referred to!), gave it a listen and huzzah, I drew something! Funny what can give you the kick up the bum to draw :P

And music is my ultimate inspiration when it comes to drawing. I can almost not draw without it, unless I’m finding a plotline too frustrating. And after seeing 3ok’s curvy, music-ky sketch, I thought it’d be interesting to see what Rhapsody in Blue would bring out of me too.

It brought out a rush-sketch, within about 1 play and a half of the YouTube video, before I started to see flaws in the picture and wanting to start over (must! resist!).

I felt something elegant and sexy (the woman, the man, the romance) in the music at first, until it sort of rolls out into something more upbeat (riding a fast horse chariot), even chaotic, and scary at times (riding a fast horse chariot! badly!). I also tried emulating 3ok’s musical man as the passenger – Just to represent, you know, “the link” ;)

Hope you like – and I hope to be back again soon!

Also – Hello to all our newcomers! :D :D

(Though I’ve probably been gone so long, you’re all DD veterans by now XD ) *does a welcome wave anyway* :)

yay you did something!! =D

also this was really interesting! i mean just to respond to another drawing on the DD site and also to make a link within that drawing! it’s very interesting to see how different people respond to the same music! I love that you take music as big inspiration for your drawings- also i can see rhapsody in blue witihn this drawing!! the lines are so curvey and whispy and as you say, pretty sexy and spontanious just like the music! i totally get the feeling of speed from the way the lines moves :) i love the girl’s look and otfit xD she’s so cute! XD

more drawings from voxie in the future i hope ;o;vvv

Ah, Rhapsody “in” Blue, oops *corrects*.

And music is so important! No matter what context, no matter who you are, or what you do, music. is. life!!

And thank you for your comment, glad you liked my attempt :) I think you should recommend more music… more music for a drawing challenge! more music to get me posting! :P

Even moreso, perhaps other DD’ers should have a try at it too ;) *winkwinknudgenudgeries* Let Rhapsody in Blue guide your pencils!

Yay good to see you back for a bit Voxie! Its really interesting comparing both of your different takes on the music :D I think I’d end up drawing something pretty dull to this, seeing as the track brings out memories of old nature documentaries to me ^^; (explained in my post on her pic) But I’d be interested to see whether anyone else takes up the challenge! :D

The lady’s expression is brilliant, she’s like a speed demon let loose with a carriage after a years driving ban!

I’m the same when it comes to music and drawing. Not so much the initial phase, but when I have to polish something up (ink and colour it) I need a melody in the background
