Dove

Dove

So my grandmother died yesterday. Which is really sad, but probably for the better. I doubt she’d have survived the cancer anyway, at least now she doesn’t have to go through another terrible round of chemo. We’ll manage.

I know, I know.

Very sorry to hear about your grandmother. The dove is beautiful.

Thank you. The dove is actually a redone bird from the beginning of 2009. I decided I wanted to draw her a dove, and this particular one is special, because it is one of Sofie, the Queen of Dove’s, messenger birds, that fly between here and Nangiyala in Astrid Lindgren’s “The Brother’s Lionheart”. That idea is very appealing to me. The original is here http://scandinavianlullaby.deviantart.com/art/Mathias-98878096 . This is probably the gentlest drawing I have ever created.

I am sorry too. But she was so very miserable with the way she was now, and how frail she had become, that I really think she is resting in peace. That is a good thing. Sigh. The rest of us can’t be selfish. But it is a shame, it was only two days before my mother’s birthday.
