I went to Art in Action at the weekend and went to a workshop on pastels. The teacher set up three large still life groups with different themes. I chose the oriental set and focused on this strange bottle thing. -^ The colours were really interesting as well as the shape.
Anyway, these are two of the little preparation drawings on different coloured backgrounds. Which do you think is better? I also did a large piece but it’s too big for my scanner and I can’t be bothered to photograph it’s basically the first one but larger.
Also, tomorrow is my last day before summer holidays

The left one for me. The muted red is less distracting than on the right, where it draws attention away from the subject.
